Nearly 4,000 farmers and rural community members across Bulacan, Tarlac, and Davao are set to gain direct access to financial services, capability-building, and broader market opportunities.
This follows a partnership agreement signed last week between the state-owned Land Bank of the Philippines (LandBank) and the Center for Asian Mission for the Poor Asia (CAMP Asia).
In a statement, LandBank announced that the collaboration will leverage its Agri-Fishery Support through Capability Enhancement for Nationwide Development (ASCEND) Program.
Under the program, qualified agricultural workers, indigenous peoples, youth, and other underserved groups will receive comprehensive support, including digital and financial literacy sessions, loan orientations, enterprise development training, and market linkages.
“Our farmers and rural communities have the potential to build thriving and sustainable enterprises when given the right support. By combining LandBank’s development programs and financial services with CAMP Asia’s grassroots experience, we aim to strengthen livelihoods, build resilient communities, and create better opportunities for future generations,” LandBank President and Chief Executive Officer Lynette Ortiz said.
Agricultural cooperatives and farmer groups can also tap into the bank’s Agrisenso Plus Lending Program, which features a low 3 percent annual interest rate, simplified application requirements, free life and credit life insurance, and technical and market support.
“With LandBank and CAMP Asia working together, we can help farmers reduce their cost, improve their income, and build a more sustainable agricultural sector,” CAMP Asia President Rev. Lee Chul-yong said. (PNA)
